Vision Statement

At Canowindra Preschool Kindergarten, we aspire to be a thriving and inclusive learning community where every child feels safe, valued and empowered to reach their full potential. We recognise children as capable, curious and creative learners who grow through play, exploration and connection.

By fostering rich learning experiences and meaningful partnerships with families and the wider community, we nurture confident, resilient and compassionate individuals who develop a strong sense of belonging, wellbeing and respect for others and the world around them. Together, we aspire lifelong learning, meaningful relationships and positive futures.

Philosophy

At Canowindra Preschool Kindergarten, we believe children are capable, competent and active participants in their own learning. We value children’s voices, agency and individual strengths, recognising that meaningful learning occurs when children are empowered to make choices, share their ideas and contribute to decisions that influence their learning experiences. Our curriculum is responsive to children’s interests, strengths, emerging skills and goals, supporting each child as an individual while also fostering opportunities to learn, collaborate and grow as part of a group.

We believe play is fundamental to children’s learning, development and wellbeing. Through a balance of child lead exploration and intentional teaching, educators work alongside children as co-learners, researchers and collaborators, extending thinking, fostering curiosity and creating opportunities for discovery, creativity and problem- solving.

We recognise that secure, respectful and responsive relationships are the foundation of learning. By building strong connections with children, families and one another, we create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child develops a strong sense of belonging, wellbeing, confidence and resilience.

Families are children’s first and most influential teachers. We value collaborative partnerships built on trust, open communication and shared decision- making, recognising that meaningful relationships between families and educators support the best outcomes for children.

We celebrate the diversity of our community and are committed to fostering equity, inclusion and cultural responsiveness. We respect and value the histories, cultures, languages, identities and perspectives of all children, families and educators. We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people as the Traditional Custodians of this land and honour the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have to country.

We believe meaningful connections with community and the natural environment enrich children’s understanding of the world. Through community engagement, sustainable practices and experiences in nature, we encourage children to develop a sense of responsibility, respect and care for people, places and the environment.

As reflective educators we are committed to continues learning, professional growth and collaborative practice. Guided by the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework, we continually reflect on and strengthen our practice to provide high-quality education and care.

Above all, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, loved and inspired; to experience joy, build meaningful relationships and develop the confidence, skills and foundations needed to thrive throughout life.
